It matters life

LIFE IS TRANSITORY
The story is told of an American tourist who went to the city of Cairo, Egypt to visit a famous wise man. The tourist was surprised when he saw this wise man living in a small, simple room full of books. The only pieces of furniture were a bed, a table, and a bench. “Where is your furniture?” asked the tourist. The wise man suitably replied, “And where is yours?” “Mine?” Responded the tourist surprised, “I’m here only passing through.” “I also am just passing through” concluded the wise man

Life here on earth is only temporal, yet some live it as if they were going to stay here forever, forgetting to be happy. The value of something is not in how long it lasts, but in the intensity with which it is experienced.

Inspiring Thoughts

Ur Purpose In Life
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed ,

by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbour.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore Dream. Discover.

Key To Success

Someone asked Swamy Vivekananda: ‘Swamiji, what is the key to success? He replied:
‘Take an idea. Eat that idea, dream that idea and sleep that idea. Be that idea and you will be a success.’”

A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and clean.

A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend knows that it's not a friendship until after you've had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.

THE DETERMINED FIGHTER

THE DETERMINED FIGHTER
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov is one of Russia’s most cherished storytellers. His short stories, hilarious one-acts and full-length tragedies have secured him a place among the greatest Russian writers of all time. Some of his best known works are Neighbours, Ward Number Six, The Black Monk, The Murder, and Ariadne. Although he is admired by many today the rise to glory wasn’t an easy one. He was born in the small seaport of Taganrog, Ukraine 1860, as the son of a grocer. Chekhov’s childhood was shadowed by his father’s tyranny, religious fanaticism and long nights in the store which was open from five in the morning till midnight. Chekhov began writing short stories during his days as a medical student at the University of Moscow. Ivanov (1887), Chekhov’s first full-length play, a fairly immature work compared to his later plays, examines the suicide of a young man very similar to Chekhov himself in many ways. His next play, The Wood Demon (1888) was also fairly unsuccessful. In fact, it was not until the Moscow Art Theatre production of The Seagull (1897) that Chekhov enjoyed his first overwhelming success. Chekhov was awarded the Pushkin Prize in 1888. Next year he was elected a member of the Society of Lovers of Russian Literature. In 1900 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences in St Petersburg. The success story of Anton Chekhov enunciates the fact that "no matter what the odds are if you persistently try to excel success will be yours."

Anecdotes of the great

To work with joy is to be free from tiredness. When there is the happiness and joy of doing something, one can go on putting in effort even in the most difficult circumstances. For having done everything with happiness, there will be the inner quality revealed in each and every task. As we never leave our inner joy, and are constantly in touch with our inner qualities, we are able to enjoy everything that life brings. Nothing will then be experienced as work, but we feel everything to be entertainment. We will be able to enjoy the richness of life even when there is something actually difficult.

– Brahma Kumaris, Mt Abu

Henry Ford, the builder of an automobile empire, once declared:

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”

Live In The Present

LIVE IN THE PRESENT
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.

– Lord Buddha

A man’s happiness depends not only upon the works in the field in which he is working, but also on his mental climatic conditions or his mental health. This mental health can be maintained only when there is a greater goal in front of us to inspire us, and the higher the goal the greater the enthusiasm that inspires us. We discover new resources of energy welling up in ourselves for our pouring out tirelessly into activity in the work. Thus it is unavoidable that we have clear and more creative goal in our life, so that we may look up to that goal and draw inspiration from it for our actions. When we have got a goal in life such as the nation’s prosperity, the country’s progress the goal itself inspires us, and the more it inspires us, the more we find the required energy for tireless activity.

Wisdom evergreen

In his essay On Criticism Alexander Pope wrote that fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
Make sure that you do not tread the path of these seven foolish men:
  1. The man who is not corrected by yesterday’s mistakes.
  2. The man who thinks that every successful man had a pull.
  3. The man who hasn’t the courage to change his mind.
  4. The man who is always waiting for his luck to turn.
  5. The man who always has ‘It can’t be done’ on the tip of his tongue.
  6. The man who throws away his money on baubles.
  7. The man who thinks he can get along without love.
  8. He who has not turned away from wicked conduct, whose passions are not tranquil and subdues, or whose mind is not at rest, can never obtain the Supreme Self even by surpassing knowledge.

God In Us

GOD IN US
A ruthless Chinese general in Tibet would mercilessly kill all the Buddhist monks and destroy their places of worship. All the monks would flee when they heard he was coming. One day he arrived at the gates of a well-known monastery. The general was pleased to hear that all the monks had fled. However, an officer reported to him that in the inner courtyard there remained one solitary monk. He strode off into the cloister and went right up to the monk who was sitting there peacefully and meditating. “Don’t you know who I am?” shouted the general. “Without blinking an eye, I can run you right through with my sword.” The monk gently, but firmly responded: “Don’t you know who I am? Without blinking an eye, I can let you run me through with that sword.” Nothing, not even the fiercest sword, can frighten us or destroy our inner peace if we discover and recognize the presence of God in us. Our inner strength comes not from swords and guns, but from the power of God who resides in us. We can withstand and endure the persecutions of any sort if we trust in Him who is the source of life.

Art of Living thoughts from Douglas..

HOW OLD
Youth is not entirely a time of life; it is a state of mind. It is not wholly a matter of ripe cheeks, red lips, or supple knees. It is a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigour of the emotions, a freshness of the deep springs of life.
Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interests wrinkles the soul. Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair…these are long, long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.
Whatever your years, there is in every being’s heart the love of wonder, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing, childlike appetite for “what next”, and the joy and the game of life.
You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair. In the central place of your heart, there is a recording chamber; so long as it receives the messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long you are young. When the wires are all down, and your heart is covered with the snow of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then–and then only–are you grown old.

An Eye opener

PRUDENCE
During the Second World War, Winston Churchill was explaining to a prominent Frenchman why the British were so inactive and unwilling to fight. “We are like a lobster,” he said. “At certain times of its life, the lobster loses its protective shell. During that period of moulting, even the bravest lobster hides away in a crevice in a rock. He waits there patiently for his new shell to grow. As soon as it is hard enough, he will come out and fight with anybody.”
“Well, England at this moment, due to some of its imprudent ministers, has lost its protective shell. So we just have to grow a new one. A time like this is not wise for action. Our time will come, when we have grown back to our shell and are strong.” The lesson we need to learn from this discourse is that it is sometimes wiser to run away than to stay. If certain circumstances always make you angry, avoid them. If certain friends always make you do evil shun them. Courage is not recklessness. There is no virtue in running risks that are not worth it. God’s grace is not meant to protect the foolish but the prudent.

Treasure Imperishable

PRESENCE OF GOD
Presence of God
There is a presence of God
In everything
We don’t really know
When and where
That moment shall come
Or in which form
He may appear.
Therefore
Speak not in vain
Cause no one pain
Spread whatever little
Happiness you can
Give a helping hand
And when you find
Friend or foe.
Smile… For who knows
You may heal or mend
A broken heart
And make your foe a friend.

– Gitanjali Album
